All Saints Academy announced that it hired Christine Burns as the new school’s first principal in November 2007. Mrs. Burns has an extensive resume in education that spans more than 25 years. She most recently served as director of instruction and school improvement for the Caledonia School District (August 2000-June 2007) and prior to that she served as the associate superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Grand Rapids (November 1992 – June 2000).

“We are very pleased to have Chris as our new principal and to help us start this new school. She brings a wealth of experience and commitment to education and to the position and is the perfect choice to help us begin building a legacy of excellence at All Saints Academy,” said Father George Darling, spokesman for All Saints Academy.

“I’m excited at the opportunity to work at the Academy,” Burns said. “I have had the fortunate experience to work in many different roles in education, but the Academy presents a very unique and exciting opportunity. I look forward to leading and fostering an educational setting that promotes and sustains a love of learning and achievement in a Christian environment.”

Prior to her work at Caledonia School District and Diocese of Grand Rapids, Burns served as the director of Woodcliff Early Childhood Center for East Grand Rapids Public Schools (August 1989 – January 1993) and also served as a teacher in the Readiness Program for the Grand Rapids Public School District (September 1985 – August 1989). She also has held teaching positions at schools in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Burns and her husband Larry have been married 31 years and have four children.
